Revolution (Part II)

Many Christians are flocking to the non-traditional, church because they desire something fresh...not because they want an experience, but because they want to see that the power of Jesus is real in our lives. You know, even if those people do want an experience, is there something wrong with that? Isn't a relationship with Jesus an experience? Doesn't it fluctuate between crying one moment because you suddenly sense the burden Jesus carries for the lost, to rejoicing the next moment because you just received a revelation about the power of Christ's resurrection? Why have we become scared of the word "experience" when it is associated with Christianity?

I honestly think that we have become scared of the thought or word "experience" in Christianity because so many seekers want an experience of God or from Him without ever seeking Him in a true, intimate relationship, the kind of relationships that 'rebakah' and 'leslie' have commented on that drive gals like them and guys like you and I Jon to want to experience more and more of the abundant love, grace, and power of God. The power that drives us to our knees or fills us with dancing and loud praise.

Make sense? But that doesn't really answer your question about "Why have we become scared..." Who is the we? The Church? Church leaders? Ya, maybe. Why have we shyed from experiencing the radical power of God? Why do people buy into false healers and mega church tv evangelists who pretend and program an "experience"? Is this why? Because church here, in our country, has become so tainted? That some churches shy from promoting an experience for fear that it will become the next big scam?
