Apple vs. Microsoft (Round 1)

I really feel sorry for those of you still working on a Windows based computer (I wouldn't be surprised if someone out there was still working with Windows 3.1...it probably runs better than Windows XP). I think to truly understand the difference between Apple and Microsoft, you have to give yourself one month on a Mac running the Tiger OS 10 platform. How many times does your computer crash in a week? Mine....none. How many viruses are you susceptible to (you really don't want to answer that)? Me...none. Can your Windows computer run a dual platform with OS X? Mine...yes. I have used Microsoft Office for probably 7 years now. I have learned more about Word, PPT, and Excel in the past 6 months by using it on my Mac than the previous 7 years combined when I was using it on a Windows PC. Apple does a better job at making those programs functional than Microsoft does...and Microsoft created them! As you can tell, I am partial, but I have seen the difference. I could probably go on for another few pages, but I will spare you from having an argument with your wife about why you need to go out and buy a PowerBook G4.

Jon,this is Matt using Amy's log-in. I just wanted to say thanks for thinking of me on my birthday, it meant a lot to me. I appreciate the card- hopefully we'll see you guys at Timmy's wedding in July.

Matt,

your welcome bud. It's kind of sad, I didn't even know Mac Daddy was getting married in July. He never returns emails or calls, so I never know what is going on with. But, if I ever get an invitation I will try to be at the wedding.

Jon, It's amy now. You're right- it is sad. I think mac-n-cheese is at this point in his life where only 2 things matter- himself and erica (the fiance). I will say this, the kid has never ever returned emails as long as I've known him, and phone calls it's just hit or miss. I call him weekly but probably only actually talk to him once a month if I'm lucky. He only works about 40 hours a week, so I know he definately has time to call back at some point buuut....I talked to my dad the other day and he told me that he hasn't talked to Mac once since he moved (in november)..except for when Maclaren has come to visit. I know Mac is trying to grow up and become more responsible, but he still has a long way to go and could really use our prayers.

And all I know about the wedding is that it's July 15 and in Cherryville (pronounced CHUR-vull). Other than that i'm in the dark with you and everybody else.

If you do keep tryin to call him, the best time to reach him is after 6 NC time. I think he is about to pick up a weekend job too so he might be even more unreachable...but I'm glad you've tried to contact him. He definately needs some male's to talk to.

Okay I really am done now...

Oh, and speaking of Mac computers..my dad always swore by t hem, and we would get them, and they would malfunction like insanely. But we blame dad. We all have this theory that he has some magnetic vibe he sends out that wrecks computers, because every computer he has ever gotten has major problems. and they are new. ...but I would love for my next comp. to be a mac so i can play with photoshop and janke like that..

Well...I think I am tied to a PC due to costs. Not the cost of a new Mac but the cost of replacing all my old software. We have thousands of dollars in software that would not work on a MAC. If we got a Mac we would have to pay for that, and then buy the new software too.

I think I am attached to PCs forever.

all this talk about crappy PC's..turns out my 1 1/2 year old HP notebook suddenly needs a new motherboard...which they told me would cost more than replacing the computer.

dern you, non-mac!

The thing I can't stand about Apple (and I am in the club so I can say this) is that they come out with something newer and bettter every 9 seconds. You can never keep up. This goes with IPods, Ibooks, Mac Mini's, EMacs, PowerBooks and the new MacBook Pros (which by the way is the most unoriginal name they have ever had). All and all, I peronally feel Apple has had it's day. They are hold hat to me now.
